A practical start for campus creators

College Creator Lab is a six-week, hands-on accelerator for students ready to turn their interests, communities, and ideas into credible creator work.
Built through College Creator Academy and piloted with a UMass-connected founding cohort, the Lab gives emerging creators the structure, tools, feedback, and proof of work to move from “I want to create” to “I know what I create, who it serves, and how to do it professionally.”
This is not a generic influencer course. It is a structured experience for students who want to build in esports, streaming, music, fashion, sports, entrepreneurship, food, culture, campus life, and other emerging communities.
The Lab is free for selected students.
Each week, students build something tangible
- Find your angle — Define your creator identity, the communities you understand, and the audience you want to serve.
- Build your content system — Create a realistic content plan, production workflow, and first portfolio-ready assets.
- Grow through community — Develop collaboration ideas, live or event concepts, and a plan for building community with intention.
- Respond to a brand challenge — Learn how to interpret a brief, protect your voice, and present a thoughtful creative concept.
- Protect your work and reputation — Learn the essentials of disclosure, intellectual property, privacy, safety, and creator business practices. Student-athletes may also join an optional NIL-focused clinic.
- Show what you can do — Complete a creator portfolio and present your work at a final showcase.
Built for students, not around students
The Lab does not require students to promote a sponsor, surrender ownership of their work, or provide access to their personal data. Graduates earn a Founding Creator Lab completion credential and a clear next-step plan.
What you leave with
- A creator positioning statement
- A four-week content system
- A collaboration or community concept
- A brand-challenge response
- A safety and disclosure toolkit
- A portfolio and Creator Showcase presentation
For brands: the Founding Brand Challenge
Brands can help make the Lab possible by funding a Founding Brand Challenge — a defined learning experience built on a real business question. It can include presenting support for the cohort, one carefully scoped creative challenge, a workshop or office hour with brand leaders, participation in the final showcase, an anonymized learning and outcomes report, and a separately negotiated option to license selected student work. It does not include student data, mandatory social posts, blanket ownership of student work, or control over student voices. See For Partners
The Lab is the front door to College Creator Academy. It helps students build momentum, identify commitment, and decide whether to continue into the deeper Academy pathway.
